What is the purpose of Direct Deposit Form ?
How will I receive the payment through the form ?
If you have received a payment from a bank account that is not on your SSN, you will have a bank account number for the account. If you do not have a bank account with the bank, you can apply for a personal check through Direct Deposit Form.
Your Direct Deposit Form number is assigned to your account at any time, and you can access the form at any time. This can be done by entering your SSN on the following page:
(Click on the number, then click on “Go”).
The Direct Deposit Form will be assigned to your account within one week after your application. If you do not have access to an online bank account number for your bank account, but you use another account that has a number (such as checking accounts) with your SSN on it, you may have access this number. You should contact your bank.
If you have received a payment from a bank account for the current month and the number was assigned earlier this month, your Direct Deposit Form may show the number assigned early this month instead of its current date.
Payments will be credited to your name on the next available mailing date. Payment requests are not due at the time your Direct Deposit Form is mailed.
How will I know if my application was accepted ?
You will know if your application was accepted if you receive a letter from the Treasury Department stating that you are one of the new applicants under the Direct Deposit initiative. Direct Deposit Form will remain valid unless you withdraw in accordance with this program. A request to withdraw may take up to 2 weeks after you receive a letter, but you can submit your request as soon as your application has been accepted.
How should I prepare my Form?
Check with your bank to get a copy of your bank account number. This will be a separate number from your SSN.
Please complete the form with your SSN (your bank does not have to do this) so that there will be no confusion between your SSN and the bank account number.
The form should be completed using standard letter format.
It may take 2 weeks for processing to occur. If you have not received a letter by the due date, contact the payment coordinator or call the IRS at until a letter has been processed.
You cannot receive a payment until you get it.
Who should complete Direct Deposit Form ?
When should you take the Direct Deposit?
If the job has a set start date and ends during an academic period.
If you are on academic leave.
If you are a student. If your student number is not yet available, please call us at and one of our staff will call you to verify your enrollment.
What will the final Direct Deposit amount be?
The final Direct Deposit amount will vary depending on the type of employment. Some jobs may need to be funded directly, as well as student employment. It is your responsibility to know what you need, and to make sure to have the money available to start working soon after receiving this Direct Deposit request. You may also request that funds be available to be released at a later date.
We'll review this request in the order they are received. If you request a different amount of funds than is available to you, you will not be paid that amount.
What time period will the Direct Deposit be credited?
Most Direct Deposits will be credited within 4-8 weeks after your application has been approved by UVM. In some cases there may be up to two months between the release of the Direct Deposit and receiving payment.
How long after application will you be paid?
The processing time varies by position. As each position has more detailed information it will be referred to on a case by case basis.

Do not submit an application until you have contacted the appropriate HR position/department. It can often take a few weeks after they are able to review your application to begin processing.
Can I have the money sent directly to my account, or will I need to arrange it?
There can be some delay after receiving the DDI for your final payment. It is important that you contact a staff member first.
What is the return period/payment schedule for Direct Deposits?
You can expect to start receiving your funds within four to eight weeks.
Who is eligible for Direct Deposit?
Who can't? Any student not yet enrolled in undergraduate education (including summer sessions and programs where students are not being enrolled, such as pre-drilled, co-op, and other programs) can have a Direct Deposit.
When do I need to complete Direct Deposit Form ?
You have to complete this form at least once. It is required for all the accounts, if you want to do regular transfers and pay them.
Please note this information is necessary for your FFI account. Please make sure to have your banking details correct before starting FFI.

What is the process when transferring money from another FFI?
As an FFI you can transfer funds through online banking, or by mail

What payment methods do you accept?
As an international customer, we accept most credit cards including debit cards, as well as cash at our bank branches. You can also pay using MoneyGram, Western Union and MoneyGram, we cannot accept other payment methods.

Please note that we can not accept MoneyGram, MoneyGram transfers as our banking system has been hacked in 2015, and we cannot receive any MoneyGram funds, and as stated above it is not safe for our customers to use other payment methods
What is the minimum transaction amount I can send to another FFI?
We accept any amount of up to RMB 10,000.00
When is the best time to send your payment to another FFI?
We recommend sending your payment to other FI's during the afternoon (as it takes at least two days for the payment to cross your bank account)
We prefer you send the payment at the same time each day, so we recommend you plan the payment accordingly
How long before I actually receive my payment?
We aim to pay by bank transfer during the evening, as it takes several days for the money to cross our bank account.
You can choose to pay within one business day after the transaction is completed, if you would wish to arrange things in the following days please let us know.
Are there any charges for sending payment to another FFI?
There are no fees for sending a payment to another FFI, however as we are an international bank service, we can only charge for our service fee as stated above.

How do I apply for Direct Deposit?
You can apply for Direct Deposit online or via our Direct Deposit application tool.
What should I do with Direct Deposit Form when it’s complete?
If you complete your Direct Deposit Form on time, the following happens: On June 12, you will receive an e-mail from Direct Deposit confirming your Direct Deposit is accepted at your bank.
You can then make your direct deposit and your bank will be the beneficiary of your direct deposit funds.
Once you've received your funds from your direct deposit, you should deposit them directly into your bank's account—you won't need to wait for your payments to clear.
What happens if I make multiple Direct Deposits?
If you're planning to make multiple Direct Deposits, you should keep a record of the transactions for each one. If you choose to check off the checkbox next to your Direct Deposit, the bank will send you a receipt for this transaction. If you don't check it off, the bank will process your Direct Deposit as if it never processed it.
If I miss a payment, or I can't make the payment on time, will the money be transferred back into my checking or savings account?
No. If you make a payment when it's due but can't pay it in full, the funds will be returned to your checking or savings account and your bank will process the payment through the usual process.
How do I apply for cash back?
On June 12, you will receive an e-mail (as part of your Direct Deposit Form) with a link to apply for your cash back after you submit it. You should visit the Direct Deposit Center link on the e-mail to apply for your cash back. The link will take you to the Direct Deposit application page. The page will have information about your account, your next direct deposit, as well as any payment processing options. (You can view your current direct deposit balances by logging in to My bank by opening the Bank app, going to Bill Payment.) From the page, you can choose to make your payment directly to your checking or savings account, or choose to apply for cash back by checking the “Allow Direct Deposit” checkbox. After you complete the application you'll be sent a confirmation e-mail that will include your account information.
How do I check the status of my Direct Deposit?
Any time you use the account to make a payment, you should check the status. It could indicate that your payment is received or returned to your bank.
How do I get my Direct Deposit Form ?
You can order the form at one of the many direct deposit locations across the country. Some locations have to wait for a certain time to process your form so be patient!
Call up a location by dialing “1-877” and asking them the number to send you your form. If you want to go to a nearby location, just look for one on your Direct Deposit map.
You should also be able to order the form online. Once you've ordered the form through the form, make sure to let them know your address to return it to. Once you've received their Form 6, you should drop it off at the office listed on the form. The office will return your card to you so you can pick it up from there and deposit it into the bank that's part of the Direct Debit Agreement when you need to pick up the card from your financial institution.
Why am I still going to the bank to deposit my Direct Deposit into my bank account?
If you haven't filled out your Direct Deposit form online yet, you may not have access until we receive the form.
So what happens if I'm the only person to receive a Direct Deposit form?
First it only works for the person that received the form. Once you've finished filling out your direct deposit form online, it's still not ready. Your transaction will take up to 24 hours to appear in the bank's system, so you can pick up your card at one of their many locations.
What happens if I forgot to drop off a card in the office that should be sent to me at my financial institution?
You may be able to get away without showing the form again. Depending on the direct deposit provider, you may be able to drop off your card in the office. Ask for the customer service representative, ask the front desk staff what they do to handle these situations and give your card to the front desk personnel to have handled it. Once the card is dropped off in the office, it won't be processed until the card is picked up.
What should I know if I get the wrong credit or debit card?
Don't ever assume it's your own because there is no evidence of it in the system. You may contact the providers of the credit card or debit card that you used since you may have already had to get a new card in order to complete your payment.
What documents do I need to attach to my Direct Deposit Form ?
You may attach a form of government-issued identification that shows your name, birthdate, or date of birth.
If your income is in the 8,160-18,170 tax brackets and your filing status is single or married filing separately, you need to include all taxable income. You cannot choose where to report income for tax purposes; you must file your taxes regardless of where the money came from, and it must be reported in your tax return regardless of where it came from. Also, you may use a TIN card or use other identification.
Do I need to include the following information?
If a loan or credit is provided in your interest-free loan form (see Questions #5,8,13,22a,23a), you must answer the question, “Have you made a loan, credit, payment, grant, loan guarantee, or insurance payment, even if you have a payment due date on this loan, loan, credit, payment, grant, loan guarantee, or insurance?”.
Do I need to address my tax return if I am repaying a loan?
If you are repaying a loan, you may either use the “Repayment Agreement” section or address your tax return in a section entitled “Repayments of Loan, Credit, or Tax Debts”. Please note: In order to return your loan, you must have completed and returned a loan form, including all required information and filed a federal tax return.
If you are filing a return and are repaying a loan, the loan information is not included on your federal income tax return. If you have repaid a loan and plan to file a return, you must include that information on your tax return.
If you have repaid a loan and plan to return a tax-free loan, the loan information is not included on your federal income tax return.
What is the deadline to file my federal income tax return?
Federal income tax returns are due April 15 if you made your tax preparation payment in December, April 15 if you made your tax preparation payment by July 15. All other returns are due by April 18.
How should I file my federal income tax return?
To obtain tax relief or reduce payments from the IRS that might be due, you may be eligible to make a “tax payment extension.” For tax relief that you have completed and submitted, please use this form (Form 941 — Filing an Application to Reopen).
What are the different types of Direct Deposit Form ?

You have to fill in the appropriate number of pages. This is an important tip for proper preparation and record keeping for your deposits to avoid any possible errors. Do not write all your bank account information in an envelope as it may be lost, and you may have difficulty determining what has been transferred to the Internal Revenue Service when making your deposits to the bank.

How many people fill out Direct Deposit Form each year?
Each year the Government of Canada sends out about 60 million direct deposit applications.
Are you asking people to fill out Direct Deposit Form with a debit payment?
Yes. Many Canadian customers prefer to direct deposit their payments from a prepaid account over a regular bank debit card. Many Canadians also prefer direct deposit payments at the time they make purchases through Internet browsers or mobile apps, on payphones or at self-serve check cashing counters.
Will the government pay for the fees for customers who use Direct Deposit Form? How much will you be charged?
This fee may apply to customers who do not use Direct Deposit Form. For example, in some cases customers with a prepaid monthly savings account may pay the monthly fee for the direct deposit fee, or they might be given the opportunity to defer to a separate preauthorized payment option (prepaid debit card issued by a financial institution in Canada or the United States).
What is the deadline for payment of the Direct Deposit Form fee?
The deadline for payment will be established as soon as possible, however it could take up to 30 days to process the payment request.
Can we pay the Direct Deposit Form fee outside a savings account? Could we use a pre-authorized payment?
Direct Deposit Form fee is in addition to any charges or other fees that you may incur for withdrawing money from the Prepaid Savings Account (PSA). If you use a pre-authorized payment option (an electronic form of payment), the charges for the Direct Deposit Form fee are set by this process. The Direct Deposit Form fee will be processed at the time the pre-authorized pre-paid debit is issued.
What if you withdraw money during an account opening period? Will you be charged the Direct Deposit Form fee?
Direct Deposit Form is payable per transaction (per day). If you use a prepaid debit card to withdraw money during an account opening period, you will pay the fees for Direct Deposit Form. If you do not use a prepaid debit card, the fees to be paid are set by this process when a direct deposit account is opened.
What if the date you enter does not work for our Direct Deposit Form Payment Request form? I need a different date.
If you need a date, and you have entered it correctly, but the date you entered does not work on our Direct Deposit Form Payment Request form, you will have to retype your password and re-enter it using the new date.
Is there a due date for Direct Deposit Form ?
We will not process your payment until the Direct Deposit Form has been received by the financial institution on account of the Direct Deposit. The Due Date is the date the payment was received. (if for example you paid by check we will process the payment on the 17th of the following month)
Do you have a mailing address for my employer?
Our office requires that our customers have a postal address for shipping.
When I use EFT, do you have to send the funds directly to my account by check in the mail? Does it matter who processes it?
We do not have to send the funds directly to your account via check. EFT can take up to 4 weeks for processing. Our service is provided for your protection, with the exception that the Direct Deposit is made on the 17th day of the month.
Can I use a cashier's check for direct deposit?
Yes, but the amount will be 50, which does not include the fees. We require that the check be postmarked by the 17th of the same month as the payment for your protection.
What is the maximum amount I would be allowed to direct deposit each month?

What kinds of personal checks may I make Direct Deposit payments on?
It is recommended that you use US currency. We will not accept checks or bank drafts of currencies other than US dollar, so if you want to make a payment in another currency, that payment must be made over the internet.
What is the maximum amount that I can direct deposit each month, and what if I make too much money in direct deposit?
We recommend using 50, which is only the monthly limit.
Can I receive multiple Direct Deposit payments from my employer in one month?
Yes, you can take multiple Direct Debit payments from your employer. However, the maximum amount that may be given out in one month is 50.
Is the Direct Deposit only available if all transactions to/from my bank account are made in US dollar?
No, the Direct Deposit service is available regardless of how your transactions at a bank are made: US dollar, Euro, Asian currencies, foreign currency, or checks.
